Our Core Beliefs
The Core Beliefs of La Porte Assembly of God
At La Porte Assembly, our beliefs are rooted in the truth of Scripture and the historic teachings of the Christian faith. We are a church affiliated with the Assemblies of God, a worldwide fellowship committed to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping people grow in a life-giving relationship with God.
The following statements summarize the core truths that guide our faith, our teaching, and our mission.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is inspired by God and reveals His message to humanity. It is the supreme authority for Christian belief and daily living, guiding us into truth and showing us the way to know God.
Scripture References:
2 Timothy 3:16
2 Peter 1:20-21
Psalm 119:105,160
Proverbs 30:5
God
We believe that God is the Creator and ruler of the universe. He has revealed Himself as one God in three persons:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God desires a real and growing relationship with every person.
Scripture References:
Genesis 1:1, 26-27
Psalm 90:2
Matthew 28:19
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
He entered the world through a virgin birth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead.
Through Jesus alone we can receive forgiveness and be restored to a right relationship with God.
Scripture References:
Matthew 1:18-23
Hebrews 4:14-15
1 Corinthians 15:3-5
Romans 1:3-4
Acts 1:9-11

People
We believe that every person is created in the image of God and is deeply valued by Him.
However, humanity has been separated from God through sin, and no one can restore that relationship through their own efforts.
Scripture References:
Genesis 1:26-27
Romans 3:23
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift from God. It cannot be earned through good works or self-improvement.
Jesus’ death on the cross paid the full price for our sins. When we place our trust in Him, we receive forgiveness and new life.
Scripture References:
Acts 4:12
John 14:6
Ephesians 2:8-9
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is actively at work in the world today.
He helps people recognize their need for Jesus, and He lives within every believer, giving:
Power to live for God
Understanding of spiritual truth
Guidance in daily life
Spiritual gifts to serve others
As followers of Christ, we seek to live each day under His leadership.
