The Purpose & Power of the Resurrection

3 Practical Purposed of the Resurrection

1.  There is a divine purpose for my life.

      A.  Four options to figure out my life’s purpose:

          1)   Speculation.

          2)   Imagination.

          3)   Introspection.

          4)   Revelation.

2 Corinthians 5: 15 (NLT)  He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

Colossians 1: 16 (NLT)  ...through him God created everything…Everything was created through him and for him…and he holds all creation together.

A Word of Caution…

Romans 12: 3 (NLT) Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning:   Don’t think you are better than you really are.  Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves,   measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.

2.    There is a divine power for my problems.

Ephesians 1: 19 & 20 (NLT) I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

2 Corinthians 1: 8 - 10 (NLT) We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.

Jesus gives us the power to succeed.

2 Peter 1: 3 (NLT) By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

3.  There is a divine place for me  when I die.

John 11: 25 & 26 (NLT)   ...I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die…
